Local Work Program  For Children, Young Adults, and Adults of all Ages

Local Work delivers continuous peace education at the community level. Each Chapter organizes activities based on themes related to cross-cultural and peace education, according to its own culture, resources and members. The program involves the local population, including students of all ages, many of whom have no international ClSV experience. While Local Work builds on lessons learned in ClSV's international programs, it also provides an ideal vehicle for ClSV members to translate awareness attitudes, skills and knowledge gained through international programs into concrete action within their schools and communities. A Chapter might, for example, organize multicultural programming to promote positive relations with families from immigrant communities. The Local Work program was formally established in 1980 and while annual participation data is not collected, periodic surveys indicate a conservative multiplier of five or six times that of Junior Branch and international program participants.
